We cut the ribbon on McNab's new community center this morning. This town in southwestern Hempstead County is home to the new Turk Power Plant.

Tribute to Dad
My dad went to heaven one week ago, and I've only now mustered the strength to write about him in this space. He was a great man who loved everything about this state. He was an avid reader, and he was the most loyal follower of this blog. Here's a short video that exemplifies how to keep life in proper balance. He mastered this art:
Frederick Gene Harrelson, Jr., 68, of Texarkana, Arkansas died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mr. Harrelson was born April 15, 1944 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was an attorney and member of First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas. He served his country honorably in Vietnam, served as president of the Texarkana Bar Association, and served 39 years on the board of the Texarkana Housing Authority. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Jeanette Pate Harrelson. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Terri Tackett Harrelson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tammie Harrelson and Steve Harrelson, all of Texarkana, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and John Lawler of Spring, Texas; and three grandchildren, Jed Tackett Harrelson, Hank Flanagan Harrelson, and Camille Smith Harrelson.
I've attempted to live the type of life he lived. He left a great legacy and will be deeply missed.
