Presenting SB235 on the House floor today (5:00 update)
I did add an amendment to this bill prior to running it in committee, so it will have to go back to the Senate to concur if it passes today. This is the bill that is the product of the Legislative Task Force on District Courts and overhauls the state's judicial system in an effort to move in the direction of a true three-tiered system. I do expect some opposition on the floor on the issues of (1) the elimination of city courts, (2) issues presented by the Ark. Public Defender Commission, and (3) county-wide elections.
