Tennessee State Sen. leaves GOP, brings that chamber to a tie

Tennessee state Senator Mike Williams of Maynardville announced that he will leave the Senate Republican Caucus and will become an Independent.

This will bring the chamber from 17 Republicans and 16 Democrats to 16 Republicans, 16 Democrats, and one Independent. Chamber leadership will remain unchanged, but the chamber is now a tie. Here's the story from the Knoxville News.
