The arugula factor

Here's one issue that could keep Obama from picking up votes in Miller County and other places like it. Newsweek has an article this week on the recent story from Iowa, where Obama was stumping on rural issues when he asked local farmers whether they'd been to Whole Foods to see what they're charging for arugula. Of course, he was trying to connect the point that grocers charge much higher prices for food than farmers get. That's one he might should've saved for northern California, not rural Iowa. Here's an excerpt from Newsweek:
Obama's "arugula moment" was silly, but the underlying concern about his candidacy is not. For the past 40 years, Democratic nominating contests have pitted "wine track" candidates (backed by young, well-off, college-educated elites) against "beer track" opponents (who cultivate a less-educated coalition of minorities and blue-collar workers).
