654 new laws take effect this weekend in Texas
There were 10,900 bills and resolutions introduced during the 80th Texas Legislature this year. Of those, 5,900 passed and 54 were vetoed. Hundreds of those new laws took effect yesterday that affect self-defense, the state pledge, dog attacks, search warrants, CHIP enrollment, elderly drivers, speeding penalties, freedom of religion at school-sanctioned events, and more.
