PSC grants SWEPCO's application for power plant
The Arkansas Public Service Commission ruled in favor of SWEPCO in a 2-1 decision (Newbern dissenting) to grant the company a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for the proposed Turk power plant in Hempstead county. Here's the 113-page ruling.
Update (11/28): Swepco President Venita McCellon-Allen was in town this afternoon to discuss the status and final regulatory approval process of the proposed 600-MW Turk power plant in Fulton. The Arkansas Public Service Commission's ruling placed 12 conditions in the Order in an effort to minimize environmental concerns raised by the intervenors. That decision will likely be appealed.
