Steele named NBCSL conference chairman

Arkansas Senate Majority Leader Tracy Steele has been named National Chairman for the 31st NBCSL Annual Legislative Conference to be held December 12-16, 2007 at the Peabody in Little Rock. Senator Steele, a Democrat from North Little Rock, is the first African American to serve as majority leader of the Arkansas Senate. The National Black Caucus of State Legislators is a body of 624 legislators whose primary mission is to develop, conduct and promote educational, research and training programs for its members, as they consider legislation and issues of public policy which impact African American constituents within their respective jurisdictions.
