High-profile mayoral races in Arkansas
There are three races for mayor in Arkansas that are garnering some attention. Four are running for mayor of Jonesboro: former DPA Chairman Jason Willett, businessman and veteran alderman Harold Perrin, 5th generation Craighead County resident Alec Farmer, and Felicia Parks, an RN.
In Fayetteville, it's a three man race between Steve Clark, Lioneld Jordan, and Walt Eilers. In Springdale, Doug Sprouse, Nancy Jenkins, Mike Overton and Jim Reed are vying to replace the retiring Jerre M. Van Hoose. Cities with a population of over 50,000 with a mayor-council form of government hold elections in even years, and the election date for all three of these races is November 4. Mayors Redus (Pine Bluff) and Hays (North Little Rock) have no announced opposition, and Hays hasn't formally announced his candidacy as of yet.
