Notes from the Denver Airport

By Rep. Robbie Wills

Just got in to Denver. The flight in was fairly well-populated with people coming to town for the convention. Even one of the flight attendants sported an Obama ’08 sticker on his apron. I sat near a staff member for Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio. He didn’t seem too upset his boss wasn’t tapped as the running mate. I struck up a conversation in the baggage claim area with two recent high school graduates from Boston, Natasha and Molly, who flew cross-country at their own expense to experience the convention. They were both sporting Obama T-shirts and lots of enthusiasm. “We really like Barack Obama. We came here to hear him speak Thursday night,” said Natasha. “We’re going to Ohio after this to volunteer for his campaign,” added Molly. “We agree with his policies. It’s really inspiring, the fact that he gets everyone excited about changing things. He has the capacity to change things and to make everyone believe it.” The two are taking a year off before college and plan to spend this fall volunteering for the Obama campaign.

After checking into the hotel, I'm off to the Pepsi Center to try to hook up with Steve (who is still in search of the credentials for Under The Dome) and hopefully score tickets to an event afterwards.
