DNF
Ouch -- the dreaded Did Not Finish. I knew a mile into this morning's half marathon that I wouldn't be finishing. It was ultimately my right knee (IT Band) that wouldn't let me go further. I ran mile 1 in 7:13 then slowed to try and find a pace that would quell some of the pain before dropping out three miles later. The three marathons I ran in a four month span over the winter was probably too much, so I'm going to hang up my running shoes for a few months and heal.
Update (10:00 a.m.): My running partner David (pictured right) ran a 1:37, a personal record, on the help of his last three miles at a 7:10 pace. I told him that his aerodynamic outfit probably shaved off a second or two. Damn, he's scary looking.
Update (2:00 p.m.): Okay, that was a short-lived hiatus (five hours). I've just been talked into running the last leg of the LR Marathon relay in two weeks. Dr. Google says with stretching, ice, and rest, two weeks isn't out of the realm of possibility to get the IT Band back to 100%.
