Arizona legislature remains in session all night, still in "session day"
The Arizona Constitution requires that a balanced budget be approved by July 1, but the legislature remains at the Capitol even at this late hour trying to work out details of the bills. A time display on the Senate's voting board had been erased shortly after midnight, but the Senate Pro-Tem responded to the criticism shortly before 1 a.m. by saying the chamber was still in Tuesday's "session day." A friend of mine in the Arizona House writes on her Facebook page that "it's 5:15 am. We're still voting."
Update: Ouch. The legislature sent a budget to the governor after sun up, and most of it was promptly vetoed. Special session to start Monday.
