The Texarkana Gazette Editorial Board takes a position on the primary offense seatbelt proposal
On 7A. Against (or at least skeptical) on the basis of too much government intereference. This bill is now in the House for consideration on tomorrow's Public Transportation agenda, so I still have at least two days to make my mind up on it. The strongest case in favor of it (other than to prevent the loss of life) is Dustin McDaniel's position that this is already law -- we're merely allowing for the enforcement of it.
Christy Busby writes on the Streamlined Sales Tax in the space adjacent to the editorial and says that last week's action by the legislature will repeal all sales and use tax exemptions on the Arkansas-side (when this action was actually taken before I took the oath of office). It will be implemented on my watch, however, despite my objections and actions to the contrary.
