Tuesday at the Capitol

We have a light schedule this morning. The only items on the "red" calendar deal with the expungement and vote on SB262 as discussed previously. We're convening at 9:30, and the Senate is convening at 10:30. We expected today to be largely ceremonial and for purposes of keeping a quorum in the event we needed to take care of something that comes over from the Senate. I'll post anything pertinent that happens here.

Update (9:00 a.m.): We're presenting a citation to Shep Russell for his work on Lake View through the $750MM bond issue here in the chamber. His family and law partner are present. We now have a Budget Calendar that contains one GIF appropriation.

Update (9:45 a.m.): Governor Beebe is addressing the House.

Update (10:00 a.m.): We're going to adjourn both chambers simultaneously, so we'll stand in recess until 12:30 while the Senate convenes.

Update (12:40 p.m.): We're now in recess until 1:30 p.m.

Update (1:15 p.m.): We have one bill on a supplemental calendar to consider when we convene at 1:30: SB105.

Update (1:45 p.m.): We're officially in recess of the 86th General Assembly. Shortest session since 1991.

Senate update:

The Senate pro tem election for the 87th General Assembly will be held this afternoon, but I don't know exactly when it'll take place. I just returned from there to talk to Sen. Bryles and to listen to Gov. Beebe's address to them. They're now in recess and will reconvene at 1:30.

Once I get confirmation of the election (or results), I'll post an update.

Update (3:00 p.m.): I'm just returning from the Senate chamber. Congratulations to Sen. Bob Johnson, the next President Pro-Tempore of the Arkansas Senate.
