Upcoming Susan G. Komen events
Mark your calendars: On Thursday, August 23, at 5:30 p.m., breast cancer survivors, activists and leaders will gather for a reception at the Governor's Mansion hosted by First Lady Ginger Beebe and the Ozark and Arkansas Affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Speakers will include Leila Alston, member of the BreastCare Advisory Board and Joyce Elliot, former Arkansas state representative. Calls will be made for increased funding for BreastCare, a vital program that provides free mammograms to under- and uninsured Arkansas women.
In Texarkana, the SGK Race for the Cure has been scheduled for Saturday, October 20. Thousands of Arkansas women are not getting the breast health care and screening services they need because of access and funding gaps in our healthcare system. Please consider participating in one or both of these events.
