Dominos falling in the 9th Judicial Circuit - West

Judge Ted Capeheart
With longtime Circuit Judge Ted Capeheart's retirement in 2009, a few changes will take place in the 9th West, although there may not be any contested races. Tom Cooper of Ashdown, who has served as prosecuting attorney for that judicial district since 1995, will run for circuit judge. Nashville attorney Bryan Chesshir will run for prosecuting attorney.

The only contested judicial race in the district will apparently be for Howard County District Judge. Candidates in that race are expected to be Jessica Steel Gunter, LeAnne Daniel and Fredye Alford. The 9th Judicial Circuit West is made up of Little River, Sevier, Howard and Pike Counties.
