Some candidate news
• Garry Smith (D-Camden) has joined the race for House District 7 to replace term-limited Rep. Robert Jeffrey (D-Camden). Smith will face Yancey Kyle (D-Smackover) in the May 20 primary.
• Due to conflicts, Russ Whaley (D) is exiting the race for House District 42. The announced candidates for that seat include Val Yagos (D) and Jane English (R). The seat is open due to incumbent Rep. Sandra Prater (D-Jacksonville) being term limited.
• Term-limited Rep. Mark Pate (D-Bald Knob) is running for White County District Judge.
• Rep. Randy Stewart (D-Kirby) has announced his intentions to seek re-election to the Arkansas House. Here's the Nashville Leader article. Randy is now recovering from disc surgery that took place on Friday at UAMS.
