2008 Acts of Kindness project
We delivered 160 baskets of household items and necessities to people in need here this morning in Texarkana after a brief program over at Faith, Love & Hope on Preston Street. About 50 attended the program before handing out baskets.
The items were purchased through donations, through ticket sales to the Martin Luther King gala, and from corporate sponsors such as Sonic and McDonalds. Several volunteers spent the last two weekends preparing and assembling the baskets. One of the recipients of the baskets I visited with this morning is recovering from cancer treatments. She almost burst into tears when she opened the door. Here are a couple of pictures:
