Day 1 of the 87th General Assembly and live blogging -- UPDATE
The 87th General Assembly will convene at noon today. Part of today's ceremony will include the seating and oath of the members of the legislature. Prior to the ceremony, the AARP will hold its traditional rally in the Capitol rotunda at 10:30 to discuss its legislative agenda. As was the case in the last legislative session, I'll provide live coverage and commentary from events at the Capitol beginning today.
I'll be escorting Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Jim Gunter into the House chamber shortly after today's proceedings begin. Justice Gunter will administer the oath to the members. We'll also hear an address from Speaker Wills before chairmanships and appointments to select committees are announced.
Update: Roby Brock has created a new and separate blog for the session. Click here.
