Letter to the Editor

Lots of e-mail on both sides of the sovereignty issue is coming in after yesterday's vote. To wit:

What are you thinking!!

What must you be thinking? In a state where we are thinking that we need to secede from the U.S., you're asking us to work closer with Congress. You were quoted this morning in the ADG as saying, "The people are Arkansas are better served when governments work together." You must be kidding. However, you are looking at bucks from the stimulus package rather than the good of the people. You, along with a lot of elected officials will have to account for things like this in the next election. After what the federal government is pulling on us, do you think you'll get by unscathed by saying such an irresponsible thing as that? We are in a terrible mess.

A couple of notes on yesterday's vote. Reps. Joan Cash and Pam Adcock placed notes in the House Journal stating that they mistakenly voted for the resolution and meant to vote against it. The official tally will remain the same.
