Arkansas House Democrats Fill Leadership Positions
Newly-installed Attorney General Dustin McDaniel spoke to the 75 members of the Arkansas House Democratic Caucus on Friday, its first meeting of 2007. McDaniel, a former member of the legislative caucus, laid out a portion of his legislative package and introduced key members of his staff, including former Sen. Allen Gordon and Melissa Moody.
The caucus also elected its district whips, and the remaining membership positions of the caucus committees were appointed by the Majority Leader. The leadership positions of the House Democratic Caucus are as follows:
Rep. Steve Harrelson (D-Texarkana), Majority Leader
Rep. Janet Johnson (D-Bryant), Majority Whip
Rep. Nancy Duffy Blount (D-Marianna), Secretary
Rep. Gregg Reep (D-Warren), Treasurer
1st District Whip: Rep. David Cook (D-Williford)
2nd District Whip: Rep. Wilhelmina Lewellen (D-Little Rock)
3rd District Whip: Rep. Marilyn Edwards (D-Fayetteville)
4th District Whip: Rep. R.D. "Rick" Saunders (D-Hot Springs)
The appointments of the chairmen of the House Democratic Caucus committees are as follows:
Policy Committee: Rep. David Johnson (D-Little Rock)
Finance Committee: Rep. Kathy Webb (D-Little Rock)
Service Committee: Rep. Steve Breedlove (D-Greenwood)
Membership Committee: Rep. Earnest Brown (D-Pine Bluff)
