Arkansas National Guard to hold equipment demonstration at Capitol

Soldiers and Airmen of the Arkansas National Guard will be landing helicopters and displaying various military vehicles and equipment as part of a National Guard education and capabilities day tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007. Helicopters will land at approximately 8a.m. (weather permitting), and will be accompanied by several different military vehicles and numerous personnel. The helicopters will depart fromthe Capitol at approximately 3 p.m.

This demonstration is designed to familiarize lawmakers and constitutional officers with the equipment and the disaster / emergency response capabilities within theNational Guard, as well the Guard's keen stewardship of taxpayers' budget. As a public service, the Arkansas National Guard will try to keep the public advised of any future such demonstrations to lessen public concern and avoid any inconvenience due to gatherings of onlookers. Some streets in the vicinity of the Capitol may be blocked temporarily for safety reasons while the helicopters land and takeoff.
