Good luck, Charles
I was told this morning that Texarkana, Arkansas City Manager Charles Nickerson has decided to move on. This comes on the heels of yesterday's press conference to announce that the City is receiving a $1.5 million EDA grant. His experience as an administrator has been good for the Arkansas-side. Charles frequently e-mailed and always responded to requests to review legislation that impacts municipalities, local government, and public utilities.
Along with Little Rock (where Charles served for several years), we're one of five or six cities in the state to have the city manager form of government. We may see some minor changes to this style because of pending legislation, and Charles relayed his opinion and analysis to these particular bills (detrimental to this form of government). It'll be tough to find someone with the experience and know-how to fill his shoes.
