Ark. Supreme Court rules that more 2005 appropriations are unconstitutional
Andrew DeMillo has the story for the Associated Press. In addition to the street improvements project in Bigelow (previously deemed unconstitutional), the court found that money appropriated for the Cleburne County Library, the Reed's Bridge Preservation Society, the Jacksonville Library and the Jacksonville Museum of Military History violated the state constitution, reversing the trial court's decision. Amendment 14 of the Arkansas constitution prohibits funding for "special or local legislation."
