Arkansas-side hires Boldt as city manager
Harold Boldt was named city manager for Texarkana, Arkansas after a lengthy closed session last night. Boldt has been employed by the city three years and served as interim city manager since May. Here's the Texarkana Gazette article.
There has been a lot of discussion on the twin cities combining services, including the hiring of a "super city manager." A recently released study says the cities could save $4.1 million by merging police and fire departments. The hiring of Boldt may put this discussion on the backburner for now. Many on the Arkansas-side have made it known to me that they're suspicious of the idea of a super city manager.
