State funds for fire departments are in the mail

Act 1314 of 2007 appropriated funds for fire departments to be distributed according to the formula contained in Ark. Code Ann. §14-284-403 (commonly referred to as the "Act 833" distribution percentage). Those checks were mailed yesterday to mayors and county judges, and the funds can be used for maintenance and general operations, fire fighting training expenses, purchase of fire fighting equipment, and other expenses necessary for fire fighting protection. Miller County should receive $57,600.
