The DLC's Good Fellows
The inaugural DLC Fellows Program, of which I'm a part, is featured in this week's edition of the National Journal. Here's the link (subscription req'd), and here's an excerpt:
The fellows group, which met for the first time in November at the Clinton Presidential Center in Arkansas, is a band of kindred spirits who share centrist -- what the DLC terms "progressive" -- advice about policy, politics, and careers. Such New Democrat thinking may be scarce where they come from: states as conservative as Florida, Iowa, Texas, and Utah, or as liberal as Massachusetts, New York, and Oregon. In Little Rock, the group talked about the characteristics of leadership (courage, humility, authenticity) and heard first-person cautionary tales from guest speakers about specific efforts to change policy in the face of resistant "powerful interests."
