White County royalty owners react to severance tax
The Searcy Daily Citizen interviewed a few owners of mineral rights in the Fayetteville Shale regarding the hike in the severance tax on natural gas produced by wells statewide. An excerpt:
“I've got mixed thoughts on it,” said Dickie Rambo of north White County. “If it does what they say it's going to do, landowners are going to pay the biggest part of it anyway, or all of it. But if it goes toward the roads, and we have some flat torn-up roads, then for me to have what I've got we had to tear up some roads.”Another royalty owner, Reece Wyatt, said he was in favor of investment in roads, but it should be in roads directly impacted by the gas development.
