Beebe to forego making appointments to MLK Commission

Governor Beebe said yesterday said he won't make any appointments to the embattled Martin Luther King Commission until we convene for our regular session in January and review the structure of the commission. In 2007, we similarly restructured the Ark. Cosmotology Board. Here's the AP article.

Critcher in charge

The governor is leaving for Ohio today for a conference of the National Governors Association, and Lt. Governor Halter is also out of the state, so Senate President Pro Tem Jack Critcher will serve as acting governor until Beebe returns on Sunday.
