Friday political events in Arkansas
Lots going on around the state tomorrow. The headliner is the rally and fundraiser for Sen. Obama featuring Hillary Clinton, Governor Beebe, Sen. Blanche Lincoln, and Chairman David Pryor. The rally will take place at the Capitol at 5:00 p.m., and a fundraiser will be held afterwards at the home of Kaki Hockersmith and Max Mehlberger.
The fundraiser is being co-hosted by Lisa Farrell, a former state legislator and classmate of Obama's at Harvard Law. Hockersmith, of course, is the interior designer who refurbished the White House and the Oval Office in 1992. She also designed Clinton's penthouse at his presidential library.
Governor Beebe will attend a reception for Rep. Steve Breedlove (pictured left being recognized by the AARP) at the Charleston Community Center in the river valley tomorrow. The doors open at 11:00 and speeches will begin at noon. Lunch will be provided (catfish). While there, he'll visit with House candidate Bill Walters (D-Greenwood).
Dustin McDaniel will be the speaker at tomorrow's Political Animals Club of Northwest Arkansas. It's at 7:00 a.m. at the Fayetteville Clarion -- $8 for breakfast. RSVP here.
With four weekends left before election day, I'm sure you can expect some candidates to be knocking on your door this Saturday. Most legislative candidates are planning to canvass their districts daily now that voters are focusing on the down-ballot races.
