Public Health committee looks at dental-training center
We have about 40 dentists in Arkansas for every 100, 000 residents. We need a 70% increase by 2015 to meet the national average, according to a report from the state dental study committee. The Joint Interim Committee on Public Health heard a proposal yesterday regarding a Center for Dental Education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. An in-depth study may be presented to legislators during the 2011 legislative session to help decide if Arkansas needs and can support a dental school.
