39th Infantry to be honored in three weekend events
750 Arkansas soldiers with the 39th Infantry will be honored this weekened in a series of "Freedom Salute" events to take place around the state. Freedom Salute is a nationwide campaign recognizing Army National Guard members who served in Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and/or Iraqi Freedom. During the ceremony, each Soldier will receive an encased American Flag among other items presented. The largest ceremony will take place today at 1:00 p.m. at Rick's Armory in Little Rock. The Arkansas National Guard still has a significant number of Soldiers and Airmen mobilized in overseas operations.
