Hutchinson vs. Greenberg II
Jason Tolbert reports that former Rep. Jeremy Hutchinson will join the Republican primary for State Senate (District 22) against Rep. Dan Greenberg (R-Little Rock). This promises to be a hardfought race between two Republicans with plenty of name ID. I served one term with Jeremy Hutchinson (he's also my former rep. from my days in LR), and I've served two terms with Dan Greenberg.
Greenberg has already tossed in $100,000 of his own funds, and word is that there's plenty more where that came from. Hutchinson will be able to raise lots of money himself, and much of it is likely to come from right here in Texarkana. Hutchinson is an attorney with Patton Roberts, PLLC, a successful firm based here in Texarkana with plenty of resources. Tolbert notes that Greenberg and Hutchinson faced off in a special election in 1999, with Hutchinson winning by 98 votes.
The winner of this primary will face another formidable opponent, as Rep. Dawn Creekmore has announced for the seat on the Democratic side, and she'll face Todd Witham in the primary. The seat is currently held by former Speaker of the House Shane Broadway (D-Bryant), who's term limited.
