Legislative pay across the country

Don't let this chart fool you. While interesting, it's wildly misleading. Many states (including Arkansas) pay lawmakers per diem and mileage for work at the Capitol (if you live outside a 50-mile radius of the building). Even though no legislator is going to get rich on these "perks," they occasionally open legislators up to criticism. So while this is interesting to read, I don't think it's a true reflection on what "actual" pay is across the nation. This chart comes from stateline.org:
