English students in Arkansas see funding cut

Arkansas will see a decline of $891,770 in federal funds for teaching students who don't speak English fluently this school year. The Democrat-Gazette has extensive coverage in today's edition.

The funding itself has been a controversial subject on the e-mail circuit of various organizations around the state and country. Last school year, Congress authorized more than $650M in such Title III funding, according to a 12/06 report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
