Lee Hamilton
Lee Hamilton, Vice Chair of the 911 Commission, co-chair of the Iraq Study Group and director of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, discussed an array of issues from the current political climate to Iraq here in Washington this morning. He believes that the center is missing in American politics, and that state legislatures have become willing participants in this game.
On Iraq, he's looking for a responsible exit. If we want to win it ("whatever that means," he says), we must provide much more in resources in pay for it now rather than relying on our grandchildren to pay for it. Staying the course, he says, at the current level of commitment will not change anything, and we'll continue to have the same casualties week in and week out until we change our strategy. Hamilton also addressed us last year at this legislative leadership conference. Click here for a recap of that program.
