Reveille
By Rep. Robbie Wills
Lordy. 5 O'clock came awfully early. I'm sure I slept at some point, but I couldn't prove that in a court of law. Steve, now known as "Boss Blog" by the Arkansas Delegation, rousted me out of bed for a 3 mile run. No sleep, dehydration, no oxygen and a marathon-trained running partner made it a tough slog. The good news was there was no humidity and the temperature was in the 60's.
The headlines in the national papers are alluding to a "split" in the convention hall between Clinton and Obama supporters. While there did seem to be a little tension early last evening, my sense is that the Hillary supporters are easing into the week and were just a little less enthusiastic, a little slower to rise for the standing ovations, than the Obama folks. Early last evening, one Clinton delegate said they felt more like a spectator that a participant at that point. However, I think as the week goes on the fences will be mended just fine.
I'm off to a 7:00 a.m. MST breakfast with the delegation to see about possible credentials, then to a press-avail at 9:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon hosted by the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. The DLCC is a wing of the party dedicated to helping Democrats gain a majority in states where we are the minority and protect the majority where we have it, as we do in Arkansas. They really haven't has as much to do with Arkansas in the past because of the 75-25 split in the house, but they have been reaching out as of late. I'm packing up and carrying my gear today, so I will report in as the day develops.
