School transportation funding at issue at the Capitol
The Joint Adequacy Evaluation Oversight Subcommittee took up an issue yesterday that has been discussed throughout the summer -- how to help schools cope with high gas prices. While state agencies are preparing three different budgetary requests, one that includes a 7% cut in spending, some school districts are finding it difficult to maintain bus routes at current finding levels. Districts currently receive $286 per student for transportation.
