Carville talks politics at SAU
James Carville drew a crowd of 400 to last night's Distinguished Speakers Series by Farmer's Bank and Trust at SAU in Magnolia. Rep. Bruce Maloch helped organize much of the private reception that took place before the lecture, and he got most of south Arkansas to show up at the event. Here are a few pictures:
He doled out some advice to those of us in Texarkana, Arkansas who may get into an argument with people from Texas as to "who can run the world bettah" -- might as well post it since it's Texas week:
Who did a better job, Arkansas or Texas? When Arkansas ran the world, we had a $431 billion surplus. When Texas ran it, we had a $900 billion deficit.
Who did a better job? Arkansas created 1.76 million new jobs in eight years; Texas—350,000 jobs. Arkansas— 31 million people in poverty; Texas— 36 million in poverty. Arkansas— $1.39 a gallon for gasoline. Do we even want to go there, Texas?
