From the mailbag: Where are the polls?

There's been a lot of talk about the narrowing gap in the polls in other southern states that include Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. It's hard to say whether it's getting tighter in Arkansas, seeing that no polls have been conducted here since September 22 (at least none that have been released publicly). From my inbox:
I don't know if you saw this Associated Press article on Arkansas new voter registration. We had 88,000 new registrations in 2008 -- 5.3% of all registered voters. That's huge for a state that's supposedly not a "battleground." The last presidential poll here was Rasmussen's back in September, before the debates, before the financial collapse and before Obama's big nationwide gains.
