Women in the Legislature
The Democrat-Gazette noted over the weekend that Arkansas now has more women (32 of 135 or 24%) than ever and more than any of our neighboring states. New Hampshire's State Senate is now the first legislative chamber in history to be majority women. In contrast, both the United States Senate and House of Representatives are 17% female.
To see the most comprehensive site on women in Arkansas politics, check Rep. Lindsley Smith's women legislators project. She has single-handedly tracked down every woman to ever serve in the Arkansas legislature (and posted photos of all of them except one). It's a work in progress, especially considering that Arkansas just elected 18 more women to the House.
