House to convene Friday morning
Now that the winners of all legislative races have been determined except for the HD38 seat, the House will convene Friday morning at the Capitol so that new members can draw for seniority. Once seniority has been determined, members will select their seats in the chamber for the upcoming session.
Finally, the House will break out into its congressional caucuses for the selection of standing committees for the upcoming session. Each caucus has a different procedure for selecting the membership of standing committees. The 1st District Caucus has historically appointed members to committees by the caucus chair and House leadership after discussion with the members. Others allow for the selection of committee membership by seniority. A signed report by the Caucus Chairman to the Speaker of the House on all caucus selections will finalize the day's events.
Also on Friday, House Democrats will convene to select a majority leader (I'm running again), majority whip, and other officers for the caucus.
