Henderson State visits Texarkana

Henderson State University President Chuck Welch and several local alumni met here at the office this afternoon to discuss the university and its efforts to reach out to communities like ours. Good visit. (notice my attire for the day -- Go Gators)

Henderson remains one of the most popular destinations for local graduates along with Texas A&M-Texarkana, SAU, UCA, and the UofA. Local four-year universities like Henderson (and others in southern Arkansas) really struggle under the current formula, and I'd like to see a formula similar to the recent modification for two-year colleges in Arkansas with a healthy baseline appropriation for all of our four-year institutions.
