I spent today with Congressman Ralph Hall (R-Texas), both Texarkana Mayors, Bowie County Judge James Carlow, and around 300 others as we recognized new Eagle Scouts in Texarkana this afternoon. The Boy Scouts of America designates today as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. Former Texarkana, Texas Mayor John Jarvis successfully lobbied Congress last year to designate this Sunday as National Scouting Day beginning in 2010. I presented Jarvis with an Arkansas flag, and Texarkana, Texas Mayor Steve Mayo presented him with a Texas flag. Both flags have flown over their respective Capitols.
