AEP awards contract to build the Hempstead County power plant

to the Shaw Group of Baton Rouge (NYSE: SGR). Swepco is still in the process of obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals. When regulatory approval is received, the plant will be built using ultra-supercritical pulverized coal combustion technology. The project is expected to bring 1,400 temporary jobs and 110 permanent positions to our area. Here's a previous blog entry on the plant.
