Alabama lawmaker punches Senate colleague
A Republican state senator who punched a Democratic lawmaker in the head expressed regret, saying "that's not the way grown men solve their problems," but he said he won't immediately apologize. Here's a Pretty comical article from the Tuscaloosa News.
The last Arkansas scuffle of which I'm aware is the famous fatal stabbing by Bowie knife of Representative J.J. Anthony by Speaker of the House John Wilson during a legislative debate in 1837 on the floor of the House. After being charged and acquitted, Wilson treated the jury to drinks at the local watering hole.
Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, said he wasn’t surprised by Bishop’s reaction. “You can’t just cuss people and cuss people’s mothers and not expect reaction," Beason said. “That’s not the way it happens here in Alabama. You cuss my wife, you cuss my mother, the same thing probably is going to happen."Edit: Must mention that the puncher grew up right here in Arkansas.
