Local government night -- Updated
Both the Texarkana, Arkansas City Board and the Miller County Quorum Court meet at 7:00 p.m. tonight. I'll try and stop by both of them after my 6:00 p.m. CASA board meeting and will report back. You can watch the board meeting live here.
Update (Quorum Court): The Miller County Quorum Court will be holding a workshop soon to discuss the JDC budget, which was the main topic of discussion tonight along with inmate medical claims management. Also discussed was a prescription drug discount card program that has saved the county over $34,000 in the 13 months it has been in existence. Update II: Here's the Texarkana Gazette recap.
Update (City Board): I made it to the meeting around 8:40 -- just as the board was concluding its business. The directors heard a presentation by CenterPoint Area Manager Dennis McBride and District Manager Jay Johnston before hearing a presentation by DeAnna O'Malley regarding the NUSA Conference. The board reviewed the YTD proceeds from the local tax on electricity and also heard a report from Ward 6 Director Sue Johnson regarding her community meeting. The next community meeting will be July 19 in Ward 4 (Director Chad Dowd). Update II: Here's the Texarkana Gazette recap.
