Rep. Earnest Brown to run for circuit judge
Rather than seeking reelection to District 16 of the Arkansas House, Rep. Earnest Brown (D-Pine Bluff) will run for circuit judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit West (Jefferson and Lincoln Counties). The 6th division position will come open due to Judge Thomas Brown's retirement, and that position has traditionally heard all juvenile cases in the circuit.
Rep. Brown grew up in Fulton (Hempstead County) and received his undergraduate and his law degree from the University of Arkansas. He's been an active member of the legislature and pushed through 26 bills in the 2007 session.
This move will open up another seat in the House. District 16 is comprised mainly of southern Pine Bluff. Here's the district map:
