Capitol restoration progress

This month's Capitol Report from Charlie Daniels includes a picture of the reattached limestone chunk that fell from the Capitol in February (see below). The 200-pound ornamental piece was reattached by inserting pins into an existing column and using an apoxy adhesive. Total cost for that part was $14,000. The latest phase of the restoration of the western exterior of the Capitol was completed in July and was funded with a $1.2 million grant from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council. Daniels intends to move on to the eastern front of the Capitol next.
