Lethal injection statute back before House Judiciary

There are five bills with Senate amendments back before House Judiciary this morning, including a revised and more transparent lethal injection process and a modified version of the bill regarding the identity of concealed carry licensees. Four other bills are up for consideration, including a Senate bill I'll present for Senator Faris regarding expungement authority from drug courts (it adds another sentencing procedure similar to Act 346). We should take care of these nine bills in short order today, and it's unlikely that any action will be taken on the 40 bills that remain on deferred. Senate Judiciary will convene upon adjournment on the other end of the Capitol, and I still have three bills on that agenda, including the bill that sets the salaries for district judges and their staff.

Here's today's House Judiciary agenda.

Update: Fairly short meeting. The committee concurred in all Senate amendments and gave a do pass to Sen. Faris' expungement bill, but declined to adopt a resolution telling Congress what to do about the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. Both Sens. Pryor and Lincoln have voted to extend the Assault Weapons Ban signed into law by President Clinton, and two of the state's four House members openly oppose such an extension.
