Silver Alert News Conference

The governor is hosting a Silver Alert News Conference at the Capitol tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. The Silver Alert system that has been enacted in other states is modeled after the existing Amber Alert system to find missing children, but it is geared towards saving the lives of lost adults in Arkansas who suffer from cognitive disabilities (such as Alzheimer’s). The Arkansas AARP has made this one of its priorities this legislative session. A bill was filed (HB2087) to create a Silver Alert System this session, but it was never voted out of committee. Other states have found it costs little or nothing to save lives with a Silver Alert.
